Eventing Rally 2004 June 4-6

The Eventing Rally was at beautiful Meadowcreek Park in Kosse, Texas, again this year.  However, this year we had very little rain in comparison to the 2003 rally.  Our team consisted of:  Kayleigh R. (HM & captain),  Megan S. on Bronson, Megan H. on Jolie, Rachel L. on Louie and Jessica E. on Corkie.   They placed second in the D rally and in horse management.  WAY TO GO!

More impressive than the ribbons, was the team spirit.  When one member was minutes away from her formals and her boots, jods and belt were in the hotel room, Megan S. had her formal inspection, went back to the stall, untacked her horse, and stripped her clothes off to give to her teammate.  Everyone made their formal inspection on time and no points were lost.

The team spirit continued when Megan S. ripped the seat out of her breeches while watching some of the competition.  Lesson learned:  don't sit on a big cross country jump in your jods.  Again the team spirit showed.  This time Jessica E. had extra jods and came to the rescue.

The ribbons were great.  The weather was great.  The team and their solutions to problems was AWESOME!!   You made us all very proud of you.

Dressage Results 2004

What a great weekend for a Dressage Rally.  Can you believe it did NOT rain?  The weekend was not without excitement though.  Rachel L. was kicked by a horse during her warm-up for her first ride. Unfortunately she had to scratch that ride, but was able to continue with the rally.  She resumed riding that afternoon.  Even with that missed ride, our team finished 3rd.   The team also tied for first in Horse Management.  WAY TO GO!  Make sure you congratulate them when you see them the next time.

CONGRATULATIONS

Quiz Rally was AWESOME.  We had three of our group earn perfect scores of 153 points:  Megan S., Megan H. and Rachel L.  All three will be going to Kentucky for Nationals.  Jessica E. and Kayleigh R. also qualified for Nationals and will be going.

The Senior D team won first place.  The Junior D's won a first and two second's.  Rachel L.'s team won fourth in Senior D.  We are so proud of all of you!

Eventing Rally Results -

"Wet" and "character building" are two ways to describe this rally!  Our C team took the Woe award by having one team member sprain her arm, one team member fall of her horse, and one team member who's horse thought the jumps had gremlins.  But they handled it like pros and (I think) had a good time anyway!  Especially when Jaxon got his due from a snapping turtle that bit him on the nose!
Our D team placed 2nd in their division overall and 2nd in horse management.  (we're getting closer!)  If we could just combine Gwen and Corkie then we would have two normal-speed ponies, instead of one fast and one slow!  But they both did great in the stadium jumping!
And of course due to the "wet"... and lightning and thunder and probably tornadoes as well..... there was no cross country.

Big congrats to Megan S on her new purchase of "Teacher's Pet" commonly known as Bronson!

**  Way to go Dressage Rally 2003 team members - Rachel B, Jillian, Jenny, Ariel, and Lauren placed 5th!  Nicole was a HM on a scramble team and they placed 2nd!  Mae rode Corkie on a scramble team and they placed 1st!

Congratulations to Nicole and Rachel B for passing their C1 ratings - these are the first C's of High Rise Pony Club!

Congratulations to Ariel and Laura for passing their D3 ratings, and to Megan H and Jenny for passing their D2 ratings!

QUIZ 2003 was a huge success for all who participated!  The day was a little cold in the morning, but the kids took it like troopers. High Rise teams placed in both the Junior and Senior divisions.  Extra congratulations to the NATIONAL qualifiers: Megan S, Ariel K, Rachel L, Elizabeth E, and Mae K.!!

CONGRATULATIONS to Kayleigh and Kira Reynolds on their new pony purchase of "ZIA Gwendolyn"!!

Aggie Day was a huge success!!  We were so lucky to have been exposed to the myriad of stations and speakers.  We learned about the West Nile Virus, Toxic Plants - remember "IT'S THE DOSE THAT MAKES THE POISON!!", Horse Behavior (what's a group of horses called?) not to mention the stations portion!  There we learned how to nail a shoe on a horse, what the horses internal organs actually look like, different types of feed, skeletal structure, what the hoof looks like (in pieces) and much more.  Our group was really turned out well, definitely looking like a team.  Everyone who attended and picked up the pamphlets during the "stations" portion should study these to help prep for QUIZ!!

Congratulations ! ! Elizabeth E. and Lauren B. on passing their D2 rating.  Way to go- please give them a pat on the back when you see them.  (Although, those brushes could have been cleaner!)

The High Rise Team did a great job at Show Jumping Rally - competing against an A pony clubber!!  They placed third, barely missing second place by 1.1 points!  Everyone had at least one clear round and Rachel placed 5th in the Horse Manager's Jump-Off.  Who said RAIN???  Despite the wet weather we all had a great time, Rachel wins the prize for wettest - there was not a dry pair of jeans or sweatshirts in the barn.  Congratulations to Devan for placing 1st in the Equitation Round!  And finally...HRPC did not miss any points in the first Horse Management Check - we even got the rulebooks right this time.  We are very proud of their first outing for Show Jumping - Good Job!!!   Rachel Landgren, Devan Divinney, Megan Salmon, Kayleigh Reynolds, and Eveline Kuckmak.
