Lauren Woodcock
Lauren began riding when she was 8 years old and has been working hard at it and loving every second ever since. A horse lover through and through, she has always enjoyed every aspect of the horse world. Most of her background is Hunter/Jumper but she also has some experience in Dressage and Eventing. She started taking lessons at Windmill in 2004 where she has grown not just as a rider, but also a horseperson. During three of those summers she worked as a camp counselor at Windmill helping with the campers. She also was a member of the High Rise Pony Club and competed and won in the 2004 Red River Region Tetrathalon Rally.
In March, 2011 Lauren started as an instructor for beginner riders at Windmill. Her love of horses, teaching, and people make this her dream job. Her goal is for every student to not just become a better rider with each ride but also a better horseperson. Lauren is blessed to have had incredible instructors over the years. She seeks to teach her students as her instructors taught (and are still teaching) her.
In addition to her work at Windmill Lauren volunteers at Equest, a therapeutic riding center in Wylie. Since 2006 she has volunteered in classes and as a schooler, riding the school horses to keep them well trained for their "real" riders.
She enjoys the challenge and variety of riding different horses. Between Equest and Windmill she will ride five different horses each week. In the future she hopes to own her own horse but for right now the horses she rides and cares for are her babies.
To her, hardly anything is better than the view of the world framed between the ears of a horse!!! |
